Shrinking?

So, I FINALLY found new shoes for Teague. After going about 5 different places, we found some that are his style (he is very particular) and his size. He got a pair of black Converse high tops and a pair of Vans.
We were up at my mom and dad's house and I said to Teague, "Show Grandpa Larry your new shoes!"
So Teague ran over to Grandpa and held is foot up in the air as high as he could so Grandpa could see them.
Then I said to Teague, "Tell Grandpa why you had to get new shoes." I was thinking that he would tell Grandpa that his black Converse with the flames wore out, or that he was growing up so they did fit anymore, but to my surprise, this is what he said.

"Because my old ones were shrinking!"

Then he ran back outside to play.

Question your kidlets

So, I got this idea from a friends blog. It made me laugh reading hers and it made me laugh thinking about what my kidlets would say. To my surprise...I liked what they said. Piper's responses are in yellow (her favorite color) and Teague's, of course, are in orange.

What is something mom always says to you?
"I love you."
"I love you."
*I thought for sure they would say something like, "Hurry up! We're Late!" or "Clean your room!"

What makes mom happy?
"clean rooms"
"Um...I don't know."

What makes mom sad?
"I don't know."
"That I don't clean my room."

How does mom make you laugh?
"By tickling me."
"Doing this..." then he pulled a face, "Um making faces."

What was mom like as a child?
"You were an actor."
"Her dog had a big beard."
*I think it's funny that Teague, for some reason, thought of my dog instead of me.

How old is your mom?
"32"
"113"

How tall is your mom?
"Five foot ten inches?" (I wish)
1,2,3,4,5,6...I don't know!"
*I'm 5'7"

What is her favorite thing to do?
"Cuddle with her cuddle bugs."
"Lay down with me."

What does your mom do when you are not around?
"read"
"lays down when she is sick sometimes."

If your mom becomes famous, what will it be for?
"acting"
"I don't know what it means."

What is your mom really good at?
"acting"
"She's good at watching me at Hockey."

What is your mom not very good at?
"mmm let's see... I can't think of anything."
"Um, shes bad at...she never plays guitars."

What does your mom do for her job?
"doula."
"I don't know."

What is your moms favorite food?
"candy."
"salami"
*tomatoes

What makes you proud of your mom?
"cause she loves me."
"I'm proud she loves me."

If your mom were a cartoon character, who would she be?
"Marge, since she always says the lines of Marge."
"Sally" (nightmare before Christmas)

What do you and your mom do together?
"Hang out."
"Kiss each other."

How are you and your mom the same?
"Almost everything."
"Both of our hair are blond and both of our eyes are blue and both of our noses are the same, cause mine has a slippery part on it and hers has a slippery part on it."

How are you and your mom different?
"Momma loves candy, but I just like it."
"Because we don't both have earrings."

How do you know your mom loves you?
"Because she takes care of me and all that stuff."
"Cause I almost play with her all the time."

Really?

Okay, I know that here in Utah our gas prices are still below the national average. I know that you living outside of Utah will look at these pictures and wish you were me.
However...I am angry! I drive a 1996 Toyota Rav4 (yes...1996!) It has a 13 gallon tank and gets great gas mileage. You know that there is a problem when I spend $50.00 to fill a small tank. I feel bad for all you that drive huge SUV's or Trucks. You will notice that I ran it almost dry.
I even go to Maverik to fill up because they are on average .05 cheaper than any other station, and I am a Maverick Club member so I save .02 on every gallon, so I save about .07. It's still $50.00!?!?! C'mon Georgey! At least I can get a bag of Jack Link Jerky for the same price as a gallon of gas, a large bag even.

Happy Birthday Camille!

Back in the summer of 1986 Camille Kelly moved into my ward. I knew that she was my age, so my mom came up with this fabulous idea to go over and introduce myself and give her a little gift...a crocheted coat hanger, yes, a crocheted coat hanger for an 11 year old. Now, I can't remember if it was the same day or later in the week, my mom took us to the movie, "The Peanut Butter Solution!" At the old Trolley Theatre in North Salt Lake. She took my older brother Matthew and one of his friends as well, but we certainly didn't sit anywhere near each other.

I guess as the old saying goes, "The rest is History."

Oh, the memories, I fear to go into detail, however I will a little bit. That may not even be a good idea, this may go from PG to PG13! (it could go to R, but I will refrain myself)

Being pulled over: (not just one time, numerous times)
"Oh shit! My Ass is grass."
"What's the problem officer?" (said with a little drawl)
"I'm never lettin' you drive my car again!"
"Oh, nothing, we are just on our way home for the weekend from SUU, listening to Michael McClean."
"Ladies, put your seat belts on!" (little did he know, they didn't work!)
"Speed gets you nowhere fast."
"Oh yeah? Well you can kiss my ass!"

A night out on the town:
"Have a Wiener!"
water balloons
toilet paper
shaving cream
tampons
pads
rubbers (condoms) - not used for what they are made for.
"Get your frizzy head back in your car!"
"What's a happenin' hot stuff?
"The condom flies over the moon at midnight!"
Christmas Lights
Patrick the Yell Leader
Burger King Crowns

Miscellaneous:
Collective Soul
Cedar City
"I'm pissin' my pants!"
Dirty Dancing
"Um, your car's on fire."
"Have you seen my potatoes?"
The young adult ward

Here are some memories these are mostly Cedar City memories, we were roomies.

Camille's dad came down to Cedar for a funeral and we all piled in the back of the hearse and he took us to dinner at Shoney's

Camille and I went to the jewelry store on main street and got the top of our ears pierced.

Camille borrowed my car to go tanning. On her way to tanning, she saw a dude having a heart attack, so she pulled over to help, while she was giving him mouth to mouth some dude said to her, "Um, your car's on fire."

I got a Migraine headache. I had to go to the wellness clinic to get a shot in my butt. Luckily Camille was with me, because I barely made it back home.

Getting pulled over on the way home. Demaree was with us. When the officer ask me what was going on, I said, "Oh, nothing, we are just on our way home for the weekend from SUU, listening to Michael McClean."I BAWLED my way out of the ticket. The police officer actually ask me to come and sit in his car with him, I was so scared, but hey, I didn't get the ticket.

Camille tried to make Broccoli soup for home-making.

Camille and I walking (because my car blew up) to Albertsons to buy some groceries, passing Dairy Queen and decided to just eat there instead, then calling Adrian to come pick us up. We were so lazy.

Driving along on Main Street with Camille and I can't remember who else, Camille threw my little guy (that was hugging my rear view mirror) out the window. I stopped in the middle of the street and made her go get him.

Bowling. Every time Camille would bowl, she would do this funny little jump with her foot in the air.

Camille sitting in the hallway right up against the full length mirror to put her make-up on.

Camille was sitting on the bathroom counter curling her hair (why?) and dropping the hot curling iron on her leg, and not realizing she dropped it for like five seconds. She had a huge burn.

Camille had a one on one basketball tournament with Tom (Dem's Tom) because Camille was convinced she could be him. Did she? I can't remember.

Going Christmas Shopping at the Mall in St. George, and on our way home we almost hit a dog! What the crap is a dog doing on I-15 in the boonies?

Camille and I taking pictures of all our roomies while they were sleeping.

Camille and I in the bathroom. Camille on the toilet (pooping). Me on the counter (talking with Camille). We had tons of matches (even though we weren't suppose to). Camille was playing with them, she accidentally lit the toilet paper roll on fire. She threw it to me to put out in the sink. However, I was laughing SO hard, I couldn't turn the water on, so I was holding it under the drippy faucet. Camille was screaming at me to "turn the damn water on!" I finally got it on, and got the fire out.

Again, Camille and I in the bathroom. Camille in the shower (showering). Me on the counter (talking with Camille). Dodd came in, went to the bathroom and then washed his hands. As he was leaving, he said, "Toodles!" Camille responded, "Toodles!"

Camille and I only going to our theatre class on the day of a test. C'mon, it was at 9:00 a.m. that is really early.

Camille and I going to a convenient store with pads stuck on our backs.

Camille wearing the the following to a convenient store: Burger King Crown, Boxers, Huge Boots, a Viewmont Viking Hoody, with a belt.

Camille putting mashed potatoes all over her face and asking Sally, "Have you seen my potatoes?"

Camille and I hanging upside down on our beds passing gas for hours at a time. Oh the joys of being 18.

Camille telling everyone that she was half black

Camille and I going bike riding, me falling off of my bike and Camille laughing so hard that she peed her pants. While she was peeing, she was looking at me saying well barely saying since she was laughing so hard, "I'm pissin' my pants!"

Going down to Red Cliffs (is that what it is called) me jumping off of the cliff because Camille didn't think that I would, and again, Camille peeing her pants because she was laughing so hard. Looking down at me in the water saying, "I'm pissin' my pants!

Driving up to "make-out point" and nailing some dude IN THE FACE with a water balloon, him chasing us back down the hill. We thought we lost him, but we didn't. SCARY.

Driving to L.A. in Camille's un air conditioned car in August. Not so smart on our part.

Anyway, it's been over 20 years and she is still my best friend. Unfortunately she lives in Washington so I never see her. She NEEDS to start a blog. Also, there are so many pictures of us, but I am not organized and I don't even know where they are. I had a hard enough time finding the one from my wedding.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAMILLE!

Final "May Days" post

Now, be sure you look at all 4 "May Days" posts.

First - Fifth pictures: The Annual Sandcastle Academy Carnival. I was in charge of all the games and activities. This is part of why May is Crazy.

Sixth and Seventh pictures: A Graduation party for cousin Kourtney at my mom's house. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of Kourtney. What a great Aunt I am. These are of the kidlets and their cousins Reagan and Logan.

May Days part 3

TEAGUE'S BIRTHDAY PARTY

We did a Transformers Birthday Party and it was incredibly fun. But the most important aspect of the party was that Teague's future wife, Hannah, was there.

May Days Cont.

So, as I have been going back and looking at this time last year, we were busy. I have realized that May is our busiest time of year, even over Western Nut season. Had I known that May was going to be so crazy, I would have planned Teague's birthday for a different time.:)
Anyway,

First picture: Piper had her Tap and Jazz recital. This is a picture of her with her teachers, Shawn teaches Ballet and Tap, Shanna teaches Jazz, I don't know which on is which.

Second - fourth pictures: The kids and their cousins on Aaron's side, we had a bar-b-que at the park on Mothers day. Aaron can still rock it on the skateboard, even though he is old.

Fifth - Seventh pictures: Ballet recital. Piper and her class were Dew Drop Fairies. And Ms. Megan has been a teacher forever and knows Piper really well. And the licorice whip is Giuliana, Piper's very good friend and our neighbor.

Eighth and Ninth pictures: Piper's first day of Captain Bree Rehearsal.

May Days

Finally May is over, and we did tons of stuff that I never got a chance to blog about, so I decided that I am going to do about three posts with pictures and a caption. These pictures are in no particular order, but they are pictures of some of our May activities:

First picture: We got some ice creamSecond and Third: We went to "The Living Traditions Festival", a Salazar Family Tradition, and, it was good this year (it wasn't so good last year).Third picture: I got another haircut.Fourth - ninth pictures: We went bowling. Teague (ironman) won. Piper was Nancy Drew, Aaron was Doc Oc and I was Gus.Tenth picture - A ski ball accident at the Bowling Alley lead us to Instacare.

My Super Power

Ever since Piper was born, she had a bow or a headband on. As soon as she had enough hair, it was either in a mohawk (with a bow or headband) or a ponytail. If the bows ever fell out, I would have a nervous breakdown.
So, you can imagine how wonderful our lives became as soon as she had enough hair for me to do. Seriously. It has NEVER been an option at our house for Piper's hair not to be done. If it is a crazy day, it is at least in a ponytail, a cute one at that.
Aaron has always told people that doing Piper's hair is "My Super Power." It makes me feel good.
Anyway, for awhile now, Piper and I have been trying to come up with new ideas for her hair, Piper had the idea for this one. She named it (she names all of her hairdos), "The triple braid."

Now, the thing that is funny about this, is for a couple of months now, I have been checking out this blog I even have a link to it here on my blog. Before I went to bed last night, I checked my e-mail and my reader and on the same day (yesterday) that we did Piper's hair this way, she had done a post for THE SAME HAIRDO.
Piper has also bugging me for a few months to put pictures of her hairdos on the blog, and I never have, but I think I will start doing that. Then if any of you want tutorials I will do that, maybe even start another blog with just Piper's hairdos. What do you all think?
